Courses for adults

Jazz Dance

Jazz dance is a very expressive dance - you dance your feelings outward.

The warm-up is not only used to warm up the body to avoid injuries, but, as in ballet, you also learn and practice the technique that you need for the step combinations and dances. The muscles are specifically trained with choreographed exercises for the whole body, and mental comprehension/speed and coordination are also trained through fixed sequences of exercises and small warm-up choreographies. Posture is the focus alongside the exercises that train the whole body, which consist of isolation exercises, foot exercises, pliés, leg work, contractions, strengthening and stretching.

After the warm-up phase, the dance often moves on to the "diagonals". This means that the dancers practice different steps and step combinations across the room. This can be anything from steps like chassé, pas de bourrée, kicks, jumps and pirouettes. At the end, small choreographies are rehearsed to combine the whole thing. The longer you dance, the longer and more complex this part will be in the end.

A great thing about jazz dance is that it is very versatile. It goes from dramatic/emotional/soft to rocky/powerful/acrobatic to sexy/feminine/womanly... everything is always very expressive!

Jumps & Turns

Jazz Technik

Jazz dance technique is based on the basic elements of classical ballet - but differs in its dynamics. In this course we want to concentrate mainly on turns and jumps: In jazz dance, jumps and turns must be performed explosively from a variety of starting positions. The position of the arms or head is not fixed in jazz dance. In order to be able to use this freedom - for example, to play with the fixed point in turns - control over your own body is essential.

We would like to train such control in this course.

After an intensive warm-up consisting of muscle building and stretching, we start with simple exercises for different turns, which can be turned once or multiple times to suit the individual level. Then we move on to across the floor and practice turns in more complex combinations, which can also be adapted to different levels. Then we work on jumps, and then in the last part of the course we dance a combination of everything - a so-called 'diagonal'.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance combines the technical basis of classical ballet with the freedom of modern and jazz dance. The focus here is on feeling, rhythm and “feeling right”.

The dynamic class structure allows you to do a lot of dancing in addition to training individual components and focal points of contemporary.

Contemporary art is characterized by expressive, abstract and dynamic movements, emotional expression and the use of the entire body to express stories or feelings.

Finally, a choreography is developed that brings everything together: a combination of feeling, rhythm in an abstract representation paired with technical elements such as turns and jumps.

Contemporary allows dancers great artistic freedom in interpreting music and movement.

ballet

Ballet is the best training for an upright and stable posture.

To begin with, the dancers warm up at the barre. There, a fixed sequence of exercises is carried out that strengthen the individual muscle groups - especially the legs and feet - and form the basis for ballet figures and movements in space.

This is followed by a few exercises in the middle of the room that are similar to the exercises on the pole. The main focus here is on training balance, orientation in space and jumping power. The individual exercises are usually combined to form dance combinations, i.e. small choreographies.

The last big block are big jumps and turns through the diagonal, for example the split jump (“Grand Jeté”) and others.

The diagonal is the longest straight line in space, so it is also a great place to practice pirouettes.

At the end there is a small reverence (bow) and you thank the teacher for the valuable hour and your own body for the learning and the work.

Reggaeton

Reggaeton music is a subgenre of urban Latin and originated in Puerto Rico in the late 1990s. At that time, reggae music met Latin American music, such as cumbia.

Unlike other dance styles, Reggaeton did not have a predefined dance style, as there were many influences from the American market in Puerto Rico as well as the already existing Latin American dances. Therefore, Reggaeton is based mainly on Latin American styles, dancehall and hip hop, although the execution of the steps and their intensity vary.

Urban Latin as a culture in general is about sharing energy with others and feeling free, comfortable and proud in your own body.

Hip hop is not a dance style in itself, but is made up of many styles such as breaking, popping, locking and many more. These mainly emerged in the 1960s and 1970s in the urban districts of the USA as part of the hip hop culture. Hip hop reflects an urban culture and attitude.

In this course you will learn the basics that you need to dance a cool choreography or create a flowing freestyle. House

House Dance is a hip hop dance style that originated in New York in the 1980s. House Dance consists of the elements of footwork and stomping. Floor elements, so-called floorworks and freestyles (free dancing) are also part of this dance style. It is characterized above all by fast foot movements and step sequences.

House dance is very fluid in terms of movements and it has a continuous groove. The music, with its consistent beats, contributes to the rhythmic flow of movement and creates a trance-like mood.

Yoga Flow

Cool beats and dynamic flows await you in Yoga Flow. Inspired by Vinyasa Yoga, we combine flowing movements with the rhythm of the breath and integrate dance elements. You will find dynamism and strength, but also relaxation and lightness. We mobilize the joints, improve flexibility and balance, increase breathing awareness and support a positive body feeling. You are welcome even without previous knowledge.

Dancers Workout

In general training theory, we speak of strength endurance, hypertrophy and maximum strength cycles.

Training units that serve to increase strength endurance and thus the capillarization of muscles include 12-25 or 20-40 repetitions, depending on the school of thought. Hypertrophy training includes fewer repetitions, but these are carried out with heavier weights.

Maximum strength units are used to activate as many fibers as possible within a muscle and to achieve the maximum amount of strength within the existing muscle size.

The structure of dance training follows this methodology only to a limited extent.

In order to meet the artistic demands of ballet, jazz dance, modern dance, etc., current training principles are often neglected and the purely physical/athletic aspects are not trained according to the latest findings:

“One fondu en croix” is enough for coordination, but not for fitness.

At the same time, common workouts do not meet the needs of dancers:

“Higher legs” do not come from push-ups and burpees.

"Dancer's Workout" closes this gap in the training catalogue. The stomach, legs, bottom, back and feet are strengthened. Particular attention is paid to building up strength in the hip flexors and maintaining the possible external rotation from the hip joint.

Each training session is rounded off with a detailed stretch.

Strength & Stretch

This course is for everyone who wants to do something good for their body. After a short warm-up, the first part involves various exercises, initially standing up, and then activating other muscle groups on the mat. With motivating background music, different muscle groups are specifically trained and made to burn.

After the muscles have worked intensively, they are stretched extensively. In this class, just as much emphasis is placed on muscle flexibility as on strengthening. The body comes out of this class well kneaded. Come along to do something good for your muscles and fascia.

Pilates

Pilates, named after its founder Joseph Pilates, is a gentle but challenging form of exercise that combines breathing, strength training, flexibility and body awareness. The method focuses particularly on strengthening the core muscles - the muscles around the abdomen and back that are crucial for posture and balance.

One of Pilates' greatest strengths is its versatility. Whether you're an experienced athlete looking to improve your performance or looking for a gentle way to recover from an injury, Pilates can be customized to meet the needs of each individual. It offers both isolated exercises for targeted muscle strengthening and flowing movements that stretch and strengthen the muscles.

Regular Pilates classes can also help reduce stress and promote mental clarity. The focused breathing and precise movements help achieve a state of mindfulness that offers a soothing break from hectic everyday life.

For dancers, Pilates is an ideal addition because concentrated work with the lower abdominal and pelvic floor muscles has a positive effect on balance and the perception of one's own posture.

Stretching is just as important for the ligaments, muscles and fascia, so these are also loosened and stretched here. At the same time, the soul is taken care of with movement in the form of dancing, a small choreography.
